Dual Band? No! Simultaneous TRI-BAND
The days of Dual Band are coming to a close. With the TEW-828DRU AC3200 router, Trendnet are giving us Tri Band – 3 Wi-Fi networks instead of two.
Tri Band means more bandwidth for more wireless clients. The wireless load is spread out across three networks rather than two.
Two of the bands are on the faster 5GHz band. Each 5GHz band is capable of up to 1.3Gbps data rates, which is perfect for streaming HD & 4k movies and playing games. You can also shift a lot of data across the air relatively quickly.
The third band uses the more common 2.4GHz band – with 600Mbps data rates. Apart from the fact that the 2.4GHz is slower than 5GHz, the band that has less available channels to use, so is more prone to congestion against other wireless devices.
Most Wi-Fi devices still use 2.4GHz, so if you have the option – get yourself onto the 5GHz network, especially if your clients support Wireless AC!
