TP-Link Archer C3200 Tri-Band Router Review

They’re all at it…first Netgear with the Nighthawk X6, then Asus with the RT-AC3200…then we had D-Link, Linksys and Trendnet all hopping onto the bandwagon. And now the TP-Link Archer C3200 wants to join the party. What are we talking about? Tri-Band routers!

Yes, Tri Band routers have been coming thick and fast since the X6 was released in 2014. Great for larger networks with heavy wifi users, Tri Band helps to balance client load more evenly for a better experience overall.

The Archer C3200 comes in a little lower than the Netgear and Asus equivalents when it comes to price, which is always a good thing.

But what else does it have…

TP-Link Archer C3200 Tri-Band Router Features

Here are the top 5 features…

5 Features of the Archer C3200

Stream & Game with Tri Band
With 3 separate bands, Tri Band helps to balance out your network. Instead of all clients competing on a single solitary band for bandwidth, there are 3 to choose from…two are available for the 5GHz clients.

This means that more clients can get greater throughput combined, as each wifi network band can work more efficiently for each client.

Make sure you stream and play games on the 5GHz band. It’s much faster than 2.4GHz and can be less prone to outside interference from other appliances.

Try to put general users on the 2.4GHz if you can. Although, if you want the lightning fast speeds for all your users, and aren’t too worried about gaming or 4K/HD video, just put them onto the faster 5GHz AC networks.

Up to 3.2Gbps Wireless
Theoretical speeds up 3.2Gbps over all 3 wifi bands (1300Mbps x2 on 5GHz / 600Mbps x1 on 2.4GHz). Use Smart Connect to apply automated load balancing if you want the C3200 to make the decisions for you!

1GHz Dual Core CPU with Co Processors
Along with a dual core processors, there are a further 3 co-processors for each wifi band. This takes the load and strain off the main CPU to help your network run even smoother.

USB 3.0 & 2.0
There are USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports to plug in printers or flash drives. This is a good way to centralize your data, in a similar way to a NAS solution.

6 Antennas with Beamforming
There are six high-gain antennas to improve coverage further. Along with Beamforming, your network devices can stray even further away.
