It’s been a few years now since the original Almond router was released. It was a .11n router and a very popular one at that.
Now we have an .11ac upgrade – named the Securifi Almond Plus ( or Almond+). It goes into direct competition with other routers in the AC1750 & AC1900 field. These include the TP-Link Archer C9 AC1900 and the older Asus RT-AC66U.
It retains the ability to control the router via a mobile phone app. We didn’t expect any different to be honest. And at last, we have 4x (yes, a whole four) Gigabit LAN ports – woohoo!

Securifi Almond Plus Features
Here’s a list of what’s hot on the Plus…
7 Features of the Securifi Almond Plus
1.3Gbps AC Speeds
So, in total, theoretical speeds reach up to 1.75Gbps. That’s 1.3Gbps on the Wireless AC, and a further 450Mbps on the Wireless N 2.4GHz band.
Two USB 3.0 Ports? Yes!
Not many routers enjoy the luxury of having two USB 3.0 ports, even now in 2015. The vast majority ship with a single USB 3.0 and a second USB 2.0 port. Even the AC3200 routers fail to offer two USB 3.0’s!
Securifi have been very generous and given us the two 3.0 ports that we all deserve.
The Touchscreen Is Back
Just like its predecessors, the Almond+ has a touchscreen interface which can be used to setup, tweak and monitor. Of course, you can use a browser or app to do the same job.
Compatible with Securifi Smarthome Security
It’s possible to keep your home safer. Just use compatible sensors to detect whether or not your doors or windows are or have been tampered with. The Almond Plus can be set up to detect potential break-ins on a timed basis, if preferred.
Securifi Almond+ Ports
Dual Core CPU
There’s a dual core processor to take the load, no matter what you throw at it.
Have even more control over your router. There is the option to log into the Almond+ via OpenWRT. This opens up more possibilities, including controlling Wi-Fi amplification and in-depth logging.
As well as using the Plus as a standard router, it can morph itself into other functionalities.
Range Extender – Extend the range of your existing network by boosting Wi-Fi coverage in a certain direction.
Access Point (AP) – Can be used as a standalone Wireless Access Point, which can be integrated into a network via Ethernet.
Wireless Bridge – There is also the option to extend your network without using any cables. The Wireless Bridge feature connects one band to another router, while broadcasting the other band to your clients for network access.
Compatible with most brands on the market today.
