The big features of the Linksys WRT1200AC…

8 Features of the Linksys WRT1200AC

AC1200 Wi-Fi Speed
Using 802.11ac (wireless AC), data rates up to 1.2Gbps are achievable over two frequency bands (simultaneous Dual Band) – the 2.4GHz range and the 5GHz range.

Sturdy Processor
It’s not just your tablets or laptops that need to have a fast processor in order to get the job done. Routers can also benefit greatly with the right components. The WRT1200AC has a 1.3GHz dual core CPU which can handle all the Wi-Fi and cable streams you can throw at it as well as helping to share out your USB storage.
Gone are the days of laggy networks because your router doesn’t have the tools in it’s pocket!

Storage – Right Here
There’s no need to store your media on a dedicated computer any more. The WRT1200AC lets you plug in a USB or eSATA drive so you can share 24/7 with no dramas.
There are two ports, a USB 3.0 and a combined eSATA/USB 2.0 port. So now you have plenty of options for storing your TV shows and movies. Simply access them from anywhere in your home. And it’s perfect for watching in HD – with the wireless AC.

Open WRT
If you want to get your hands dirty and really see what the WRT1200AC is all about, you have the option to use Open WRT. This lets you have complete control of the running of the router, as well as letting you monitor all the fine details of your network.

2 Adjustable Antennas
There are two antennas (one 2.4GHz, one 5GHz) that can be moved to varying positions to help you get the most out of your wireless coverage.

The antennas can be detached and upgraded as you please.

Beamforming
Rather than sending out Wi-Fi signal in all directions at all times, the WRT1200AC uses Beamforming, which sends signal in the direction of your clients when they need it. Coverage distance is increased, reliability is improved and speeds are faster, even at greater distances.

Storage Ports
It would be weird to buy a router these days that didn’t have a port for you to plug in a storage device to share out.
Linksys have given us a USB 3.0 port and a second port that works as either an eSATA or USB 2.0 port. So it doesn’t matter how you store your media, the WRT1200AC has the options for you to share your videos around the home.

Smart Wi-Fi App
This app lets you access the WRT1200AC to monitor and take control of your network.

You can:

  • Monitor network load
  • Create new networks
  • Adjust parental controls
  • Adjust QoS
  • Turn on/off Wi-Fi for individual devices

If you don’t want to use your smartphone or tablet, then alternatively you can browse to the router.
