The Linksys EA9200 AC3200 router is a recent joint release, along with the E8350 AC2400 which we had a look at a few days ago.
It also happens to be Linksys’s new ‘best of breed’ router. The EA9200 has Tri-band (3 bands, as opposed to Dual Bands two Wi-Fi bands), and data rates up to 3.2Gbps over the 3 bands. This brings it into direct competition with the Netgear Nighthawk X6. Oh, and there is a dual core CPU on board, with 3 co-processors to help ease the load.

Linksys EA9200 AC3200 Features
Being the new ‘boss’ of a family (the Linksys one in this case!), you would expect a bunch of cool features… Well, here they are…
7 Features of the Linksys EA9200 AC3200
Not Dual Band…Tri-Band!
Welcome to the brave new world of Tri-Band wireless. The EA9200 supports Tri-Band, which uses two 5GHz radios as well as a single 2.4GHz radio at the same time. The only other router that supports Tri-Band Wi-Fi, at this time, is the Netgear Nighthawk X6.
Linksys’s Smart Connect technology intelligently balances wireless clients over the two 5GHz bands making sure utilization is maximized as much as possible when using high bandwidth. Activities that require only low bandwidth or non 5GHz clients will automatically use the 2.4GHz band.
AC – 3.2Gbps!
Linksys have done it at last…a router with up to 3.2Gbps. The Linksys EA9200 is one of the new wave of Tri-Band routers that have data rates cumulative up to 3200Mbps. That’s 2.6Gbps over the two 5GHz radios on Wireless AC, and a further 600Mbps on the Wireless N’s 2.4GHz band.
With this much Wi-Fi power, all the users in your home have the capability to stream HD locally, surf and game all at the same time.
1GHz Dual Core (oh, and 3 more for good luck…)
You can’t have all these features with ultra-fast Wi-Fi without having the hardware to make it all work…The EA9200 AC3200 comes with a 1GHz dual core processor along with 3 co-processors to take the load off the dual core. This makes the EA9200 more efficient and less likely to struggle under pressure, and won’t end up being the bottleneck in your network.
Increase Coverage with Beamforming
Range, reliability and throughput are all increased when Beamforming comes into play. Wireless signal is directed towards devices when required improving the Wi-Fi experience overall.
There are 3 internal fixed antennas and 3 external adjustable antennas. The external antennas are of most benefit when you have a multi-story home. Tilting the antennas can help to direct Wi-Fi coverage in the direction of the different levels in your home, increasing overall wireless service. The external antennas are also replaceable should you wish to attach higher gain antenna to suit your needs.
A USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port grace the EA9200. Plug a drive into the USB 3.0 port and/or a printer into the USB 2.0 port, and you have yourself a central point for your files and printing.
4x Gigabit Ethernet Ports
If you have wired LAN devices, like a PC or smart TV etc, there are four 1Gbps ports available to use.
Linksys Smart Wi-Fi App
The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app is the way to go to gain complete control of your Linksys router. You can download from itunes (for your Apple devices, Google Play (for your Android devices), or just use a browser from your PC.
Rather than having to log into the router, you can conveniently use your app to check and configure your Smart Wi-Fi router from your phone or tablet, including:
1) Setting up Quality of Service (QoS) – Prioritize certain devices for streaming and online gaming
2) Parental Controls – Control who can do what
3) Network Monitoring – Keep an eye on what is happening within your network, and see if anyone is hogging bandwidth. Useful in conjunction with QoS.
4) Guests – Create and set up security for a Guest Network.
5) Wi-Fi Control – Enable and disable Wi-Fi for individual clients, or for the network as a whole.
