The Amped RTA1750 Wireless AC router has been released. Amped are throwing the RTA1750 into the fighting ring, competing against the likes of TP-Link’s Archer, and Asus RT-AC66U.
Amped have taken their time releasing a high-powered AC router. Have they done enough to make us want to run out and buy one?
Hmmm, let’s find out…
Amped RTA1750 AC1750 Features
Some of the more important features that the Amped RTA1750 has…
6 Features of the Amped RTA1750 800mW Router
AC Speeds – Up To 1.75Gbps
Amped have at last provided a ‘bad boy’ router. 1.75Gbps data rates over Dual Band (1.3Gbps 5GHZ & 450Mbps on the 2.4GHz band). It’s what consumers want these days. Well, the consumers who want to stream HD videos and play online games over the air, at least.
12 Amplifiers
You can never have too many amplifiers! Amped have shipped 12 with the RTA1750. With 800mW of power, the amplifiers reach out up to 3 times further than normal routers, giving more coverage than ever before. All this extra power means that deadzones are minimized, and obstacles that normally dampen wi-fi signal, like solid walls for example, are much less of a problem. The power of the amplifier can also be configured within the menu.
Of course, the amplifiers are nothing without antennas. The RTA1750 has 2 of them fully adjustable

USB Port
Centrally locate your files by plugging in a USB drive into the available USB 2.0 port. The RTA1750 can also be set up so that the files can be accessed remotely, using FTP.

Guest Networks
Have visitors around often? Do they want to access the Internet? Do you want to keep your network secure while they visiting? Well, the RTA1750 can cater for up to 8 guest networks should you need them (We can’t think why you would want more than 1 or 2 around the home though). Guest users can browse the Internet, but not gain access to your network. This means your files are kept safe and secure, and the threat of viruses from your visitors is extinguished. Nice.
Parental Controls
It would be disappointing to have an AC router in this day and age, without it having Parental controls built in. The RTA1750 is no different. Control who has access, when they have access and to what they can access.
Easy Set Up
You will be up and running in no time. The RTA1750 is a cinch to get going. Using the Basic Setup Wizard, Amped have made synching with your ISP an automated process. Of course, if you want to fine tune to exactly the way you like, you can make manual changes.
