The Amped RTA1200 800mW AC1200 router is the newest addition to the Amped AC wireless family.
Previously Amped released the RTA1750 at the end of 2014. The RTA1200 is a little less powerful than it’s bigger brother, but it by no means is lacking features.
And it certainly should be on your comparison list if you’re looking for a budget router with some grunt.
So what exactly does it have?

The features that Amped want to make you sit up and take notice of…
7 Features of the Amped AC1200 800mW Router
1.2Gbps Data Rates
This is an AC router for those that want AC speeds, but at a conservative cost.
The RTA1200 is a Dual Band router with data rates that are broken down as follows:
– 5GHz = 867Mbps
– 2.4GHz = 300Mbps
As it’s a Dual Band router, the speeds over both bands are combined to give 1.2Gbps data rates in total.
8 Amplifiers / 2 Antennas
Along with two detachable antennas, there are eight high power amplifiers.
USB Port
Plug in a drive or a printer to the USB port. Great for centralizing files or printing.
Amped Ports At Rear
Gigabit LAN
If you use wired Ethernet, there are four 1Gbps LAN ports available.
There’s also a Gbps WAN port for connecting to a modem.
8 Guest Networks
Whenever your friends or family come to visit, let them connect to the Internet, without compromising your own security.
Having a separate wireless network segregates others from your network. This stops intentional hackers. But even if your visitors are innocent users (which we hope they are!), their laptops, phones or tablets can have viruses that can easily spread. A separate network helps to keep your own domain clean
Simple Getting Set Up
Setup is achieved in a couple of minutes.
Parental Controls
Control exactly who gets onto your network, when they can get on and what they can access. Versatile access control gives you peace of mind while running the network.
