TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT Features

Although the TL-PA4010KIT boasts a very simple set up and runs automatically, it still has a host of features to run through….

7 Features of the TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT

High Speed Data Anywhere At Home
Transform your mains power into a high speed network with the TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT. Up to 500Mbps is reachable spanning over 300 meters of cable. Plug the two adapters into power sockets around the home and use Ethernet cables to plug into your device network port. Ideal for reaching parts of your home that wireless either doesn’t reach, or doesn’t have a good enough signal. For example, you can plug one side into a power socket beside your router, and the other side where you want your high speed connection.

Pair-up Easily
The easiest network device you will ever set up. Plug the adapters into power sockets. Cable the adapters into the devices using the provided network cable. Press the ‘pair button’. All done! You now have a high-speed, encrypted network connection.

Stream HD
Normal Cat5 Ethernet has a 100 meter limitation, wireless can be unreliable – the up to 500Mbps throughput over 300 meter cables means you can stream HD using your power network!

Power Saving
When no data is traversing the TL-PA4010KIT, it goes into power saving mode and reduces energy consumption by up to 85%, cutting down on wasted energy and saving you money. When data starts traversing, the units spring back into life instantly.

Built-in AES security
All data is encrypted in 128-bit AES by default. Feel safe knowing that your data is safe and secure across your entire home.

TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT compact

Small and Compact
The TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT is as small as Powerline products can get. At under 3cms thick and smaller than a credit card, it blends into your home unnoticed and is easy to carry around.

QoS Support
Quality of Service is supported on the TL-PA4010KIT, so you can guarantee your precious traffic still gets preference over the rest.

Conclusion for the TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT

Good

  • Solid Speeds
  • Virtually Plug & Play Setup

Not so Good

  • Be Careful With Interference

Much smaller than other PowerLine adapters we’ve tried in the past, you can plug this discreet little device into your wall sockets without worrying about obstructing other furniture or having to worry about looking at an eyesore.

Setting up is a cinch. Plug the adapters into a wall socket and then using the supplied Ethernet cables, connect one adapter to your router or switch and the other to your PC, Mac or laptop. Then press the Pair button to synch the two adapters.

One thing to be wary of is potential interference. Plug in a heavy duty electrical appliance to your electrics, a drill or floor-sander for example, and your LAN connection may start dropping out or be compromised. It must be noted that it takes a device which is very thirsty for electricity for this to happen, a device that would be rarely used, but it should be taken into consideration.

In conclusion, even though wireless has gone from strength to strength, it just doesn’t match the reliability performance of a cabled solution, especially at longer distances. The TP-LINK TL-PA4010KIT plugs this gap in very well.

    Hi,

Sorry, the conclusion maybe wasn’t that clear. The throughput was cumulative over several adapters, rather than just between two adapters. Sorry for any confusion

  2. How do I know the pairing worked? and my data is secure? The adapter that is plugged into the router there are two green lights that are on, the one in the middle is not on. In the adapter that is plugged into my game console only the top green light is on? are they all supposed to be on? The set up does not go into great detail.

    1. It means that people who review the hardware have either no idea about networking or they have no desire to run real life tests my units only got about 10% of the advertised bandwidth and that was in the same room.

  4. Are these wireless?? Do you have to plug in at the other end??
