Preview of D-Link AC Routers 2015

Well another year is upon us, and with January traditionally being the first month of the year, it’s usually the month that new router announcements are in the air! Pretty obvious really…

What you guys are interested in are the juicy, fast AC routers that are going to be released. You know, the ones that set the world alight and don’t let you down when you need something off the network – FAST.

Well, this post is all about D-Link AC routers, and what they have in the pipeline. Earmarked for release during 2015 – D-Link will release the DIR-885L and the flagship DIR-895L, which will compliment the already released 890L

D-Link AC Routers For 2015

D-Link DIR-895L – Key Features Promised

The 895L will be D-link’s most powerful router to date.

Tri-Band AC – 5.33Gbps (yes, you read that right), data rates are promised right out of the box. Using the latest technology, Tri-Band, as the name suggests, uses 3 frequency bands to give you a better wi-fi networking experience. Two 2.165Gbps networks are on the 5GHz band, and a further 1Gbps on the 2.4GHz band. Your AC nodes connect to either of the 5GHz bands, helping to alleviate congestion, which can be the case when using a single 5GHz band.

All 3 bands can be used at the same time

Dual Core Processor – There’s no point having the latest and greatest if you haven’t got a solid CPU under the hood. The 895L has a 1.4GHz dual core processor to handle the AC wi-fi, Gigabit LAN traffic, storage, and all the other features that are packed in. The 895L uses a Broadcom chip (the BCM47094) so you know it won’t let you down.

MU-MIMO & Beamforming (AC Smartbeam) – The DIR-895L supports MU-MIMO, so your wireless transmissions aren’t degraded if you have more than one wireless client connecting at any one time. Beamforming is also used to help boost reliability and coverage.

USB 3.0 – Essential on an AC router. The 895L has one…and a USB 2.0 port for good measure.

8 Powerful Antennas – The more antennas the better – with eight antennas, you know you have your home covered!

Smart Connect – Smart Connect lets the D-Link intelligently decide what devices go on what Wi-Fi band. Rather than having to manually configure your devices, Smart Connect takes the work away from you. It also helps to balance your wireless clients over the three bands, to help ease any potential congestion.

D-Link DIR-885L AC3100 – What Will D-Link Include?

D-Link DIR-885L AC3100 Preview - D-Link AC Router

The 885L will have data rates totalling 3.1Gbps. However, the 885L is a dual band router, as opposed to the tri band 895L, and the already available DIR-890L.

The DIR-885L will ship with four antennas, but other than that it will come spec’d the same as it’s bigger brothers – so just scroll up again to see what D-Link have promised us all!

The D-Link DIR-890L AC3200 – Available Now

If you don’t want to wait for the aforementioned D-Link monsters, there is a router already in the market that fits right in between the two of them, as far as specs go. It’s the DIR-890L, and – it’s already available!
