Netgear R6300v2 AC1750 Features

The R6300v2 comes packed with a bunch of features…

7 Features of the Netgear R6300v2 AC1750

Lightning Fast Speeds
Total combined data rates of 1.75Gbps when using both wireless bands (1.3Gbps on Wireless AC & 450Mbps on Wireless N). You won’t have any worries about bottlenecks when it comes to data transfers or streaming your favorite HD movies.

Beamforming+
The Netgear R6300v2 AC1750 uses Beamforming to focus wireless coverage in the direction of your wireless clients. So rather than sending out wireless signal omni-directionally, all of the time, the R6300 will focus it’s energies when communicating with your clients. This increases data rates, extends coverage – which helps eliminate dead-spots, and improves stability.

No More Lag (Dual Core CPU)
The R6300v2 has been built to put an end to lag and increase reliability. No more multiplayer gaming freezes and lagging First Person Shooter games. With it’s fast dual core 800MHz processor and reliable wireless technology, the R6300v2 puts an end to gaming woes and streaming frustrations.

More Sharing (USB & DLNA)
With a USB 3.0 port and DLNA technology, this Netgear “Ultimate Router” aims to provide the fastest and most convenient way of sharing your files and folders. View your photos and videos on your DLNA-compatible TV, and also share files to your wireless devices around the home. With USB 3.0 speeds, HD streaming is possible along with multiple simultaneous file transfers. There is also a USB 2.0 port, which can be used for a USB printer, should you wish to print centrally – using the Netgear Genie app, printing from your smartphones and tablets is also now a reality.

Security & Safety For Your Family
With secure WPA2.0 encryption your wireless data is as safe and secure as possible from outside threats and hackers.
Parental Control options mean you can block access to certain sites, or all sites either permanently or at set times during the day. This stops your kids from playing games, their Facebook account, or browsing the Internet when they should be sleeping.
A Guest Wireless network can also be set up so that any visitors to your home are allowed access to the Internet, but are not allowed to access your private network.

So Easy To Get Going
No CD required to get set up. Just browse to the Web GUI and run the setup wizard to get you up and running. Further changes can be made manually, using the Web GUI or the Genie app, from PC’s, MAC’s, smartphones and tablets.

Quality of Service & Dual Band = Reliability
With the combined powers of QoS and Dual Band, your connections remain as stable and reliable as ever. QoS (Quality of Service) provides the option to give priority to certain types of traffic so that it is unaffected by other data flows that could impact user experience. Make sure you give your online gaming, VoIP and Streaming traffic the bandwidth it deserves, which in turn will give you a better online experience.

Netgear R6300 AC1750 Conclusion

Good

  • Smaller/Lighter Than R6300v1
  • Now Has A USB 3.0 Port – Yay!
  • Beamforming Keeps This Up With The AC Elite
  • Upgraded CPU & RAM

Not so Good

  • Only Slight Upgrade on R6300v1 – But That’s OK!

The original Netgear R6300v1 was launched last year to good reviews. Performance-wise, it was better than most of its competitors, only beaten by the then wireless AC champs – the Asus RT-AC66U and the top Linksys router at the time (E4200v2). The performance levels of the R6300v2 are much the same, certainly from a wireless and Ethernet perspective.

The CPU has been upgraded to a 800MHz and the RAM has been doubled to 256MB. This has given the R6300 sufficient grunt to multi-task intensive tasks effortlessly.

Another notable difference is that the v2 now has a USB 3.0 port. This is a “must-have” in this day and age of .11ac routers, HD streaming and transferring files around in the era of multiple users.

Netgear have also given the R6300 something of a makeover, by shrinking down the bulkiness of the original. The R6300v2 is more compact than it’s predecessor and is a little lighter.

The Netgear R6300 upgrade sits proud among their “Ultimate Range” routers and keeps Netgear up there with the other high performing brands (did I hear you say ‘Asus’?).
