Asus Wireless Routers 2016 Preview

Compared to TP-Link & Linksys, Asus are relatively quiet on their Wi-Fi announcements for 2016, well as far as the CES 2016 show is concerned at least anyway.

We have a cable modem router (CM-32_AC2600), a USB adapter (USB-AC68) and a range extender (RP-AC68U)

Only one to preview, sadly…

Cable modems are an ideal way to save costs (in the long run) because you won’t have to lease a modem off your ISP.

Wireless-wise, this AC2600 combi modem/router boasts data rates up to 2.534Gbps over its 2 bands using a 4×4 antenna configuration.

The CM-32 AC2600 cable modem router has 32 downstream channels and 8 upstream.

You need a willing wireless client to truly harness those lightning-fast AC speeds. The USB-AC68 USB adapter can do this as it supports up to 1.9Gbps data rates.

Rather than being a traditional solid- non-moving USB 3.0 adapter, the USB-AC68 comes with a cable and desk-standing unit/cradle, that has 2 movable antennas that can be manually adjusted. It’s a 3×4 MIMO adapter that supports Asus Ai Radar (beamforming).

Finally, we have a wifi range extender – the RP-AC68U. This dual band AC1900 wireless repeater helps to boost out your home network even further on 2.4GHz & 5GHz. It comes with a built-in USB 3.0 port and can be used with Asus AiCloud.

It has an LED which helps to determine optimal positioning and has WPS for easy pairing with clients.
